So as some of you may or may not know, my absolute favourite genre of High School Musical fan fiction is CollegeFic. My absolute favourite pairing is Chad/Ryan. So for a while now I've been thinking about collaborating a list of all the college fic I have found in one post on my lj.

 

So here it it!!

INTRODUCTION

 

So these are a little bit of a cheat, but they fit within the 'college' theme.

Gift for Everyone! (written for swingathon) by allyndra
Summary: As high school lets out for the last time, Chad and Ryan spend more time together
Notes: A summer between senior year and college fic. I particularly like the take on Chad in this fic and the way how even though its Chad/Ryan it also feels pretty ensemble as well :)

What Hurts the Most by elvensorceress/ jenwyns_fics (non f-locked link)
Summary: Ryan says goodbye before leaving for college. Chad and Troy have a talk
Notes: A little bit on an angsty fic, but you can see the potential for the boys through it *hugs this fic*

thou and I sigh one another's breath by tigriswolf  (**new**)
Summary: Prompt: High School Musical, Chad/Ryan, Am I gay?
Notes: 140 words, huggable fic :)

We Are Golden by allyndra  (**new**)
Summary: Sometimes Chad is needy. Sometimes Ryan is confident. It’s awesome when those times coincide. PWP set soon after HSM3
Notes: So this one is a little bit of a cheat, BUT there are mentions of college and its post HSM 3.  Also this list was very sadly lacking PWP :)

THE COLLEGE FIC LIST

Wizards and Fairies by magickalmolly and kelbebop 
Summary: Chad and Ryan discuss the important aspects of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Notes: Cute fic wherein Chad and Ryan watch Harry Potter and discuss the different slash pairings :)

Phone Calls by magickalmolly
Summary: Chad and Ryan's first semester in college
Notes: Chad and Ryan's start of term at different colleges via phone calls. A little angsty, but that's what makes it GOOD! Unfortunately this fic is f-locked. Howeverjenwyns_fics are all brilliant so it is definitely worth commenting on her Friends Only post to be added.

Go Round Again by coffeewordangel
(No Author Summary)
Notes: One of my favourite fics! Chad goes to college and ends up with Ryan as his roommate! Cue tension and pining from Chad, and some angsting and impromtu drunken one night stands. What I particularly like about this fic is its accurate representation of college life in terms of how the characters change in subtle ways, so that when they go back home they don't quite fit the way they used to.
coffeewordangel's Troy is also rather brilliant in this fic, saying to Chad near the beginning of the story: "...I knew you were gay before you did. You can’t hide anything from me.”

Different by magickalmolly
Summary: This is different. Different than what he thought he'd be doing at this time in his life
Notes: A cute little stream-of-consciousness, established relationship fic from Chad's pov at 5am

The Frat!verse by temira
Notes: I ADORE this series! Particularly the inclusion of Sharpay and her boyfriend and how Chad and she have ended up in the same circle of friends. In fact, lets have some piccy's to celebrate the inclusion of Sharpay in the Chyan fic:

 

The OCs in the fics are likeable and fleshed out well but the focus is not too much on them. It's still all about the Chyan! Chad and Ryan have stubornly remained long-distance friends despite their chemistry (and the fact that everytime they do see eachother it always seem to end up with them having sex). Angsty in places and BRILLIANT THROUGHOUT.
There are currently seven stories in this verse: 'Body Shots and Broom Closets', 'Light Bulb Moment', 'Awkward Guy and Barista Boy', 'Thanksgiving Break', 'I Will', 'Something New' and 'Raining Men'
Summary of 'Body Shots and Broom Closets: Ryan was supposed to be visiting Sharpay, but ended up at a frat party doing a body shot off of Chad. Um, whoops?

Happenstance by alethialia
Summary: "I'm, like, the normal, focused, straight-down-the-middle jock. How'd I end up in the psychotic, orgiastic, stoner, trust fund, drama kid group?"
Notes: Up there with the fratverse in my favourite college fics. We have Chad transferring to Ryan's college (by coincidence) and then many more coinidences that end up with Ryan spending a lot of time with Chad. Clueless Chad plays heavily in this fic :) 

 

Joint Custody by bachelor_girl

Summary: Ryan comes to visit Chad at U of A. Nothing happens.
Notes: The summary says it all, a snap shot of Ryan and Chad at college. Established relationship. (with a side of shrieking Sharpay)

...Where the Heart is by stareyednight
Summary: The realtor, a well groomed redhead in her thirties, kept shooting him glances, like she couldn't believe this college student could afford a broom closet in this building, let alone an apartment.
Notes: Chad and Ryan go apartment hunting. Cute established relationship fic :)

Prompts from Without by tonko_ni
Summary: One of Chad's U of A teammates is an idiot, and Sharpay spills some beans.
Notes: Thanks to queenitsyfor introducing me to this one! A slightly more realistic look a what college might be like. Chad saves Ryan from some bullies, they bond :) Also, bonus Sharpay!

Summary: College starts for Sharpay and Chad, and Ryan tries to keep in touch.
Notes: OMG! As you can probably tellalready I love Sharpay guest starring in Chyan fic, In this she and Chad fall into being best friends at college, Ryan gets the wrong idea... (Again thank you to idontdance

Freshman Year by poor_choices
Summary: Rely a bit too heavily on alcohol and irony
Notes: Ryan has a plan, when he can't take the hotness that is his best friend Chad any longer he plans to get drunk and sleep with him. Nothing could go wrong, could it?

Long Distance by fools_game
Summary: A thousand miles away, Ryan Evans might be the best friend Chad's got.
Notes: Chad's a bit slow on the uptake, but he gets there eventually in this fic. After ignoring Ryan for a couple of months at the start of college, Chad gets subtly prompted by Sharpay to talk to her brother. f-locked to idontdance

A Couple of Miles by bachelor_girl 
Summary: Ryan doesn't live in New Mexico anymore. Chad comes for a visit. That's pretty much it.
Notes: Sweet Chyan fic that captures how uni can change you, love the comments on how Sharpay would cope with Juliard versu Ryan.

Holiday Ficlet #4 by temira 
Summary: Christmas break after first semester of college
Notes: Cute holiday ficlet with the guys home from college for the holidays

Set the Beat by lazy_daze  (**new**)
Summary: written for Porn Battle VII, promp: High School Musical, Chad/Ryan, skateboards
Notes: more PWP! YAY!

Ever After by elvensorceress  f-locked to idontdance (**new**)
Summary: Prompts: domesticity, college, afterthought

BONUS

So this hsmbigbang  posted recently and one fic in particular had me considering that perhaps its not just college fic that I'm a fan of but future fic in general, because I have epic love for the following fic:

Unforgettable by  hsmbigbang
Summary: This was pretty much the worst adrenaline rush he had ever had, and for the worst reason. So he was in the vicinity of his high school boyfriend for the first time in a decade. So what? Time had passed. Things had changed. There was nothing between them anymore.
Notes: Ryan and Chad go in completely different directions with their lives after they split up. They're adults now and considering attending their high school reunion. The author really catches the air of nostalgia most people feel about high school, but also the feeling of being glad its in the past. But no matter how old the boys are, they're still useless when it comes to relationships. READ THIS FIC! :)

Room Fourteen Oh Six (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3883087/1) (that's by me). It makes Sharpay a villain, but the boys are college roomies. Only one (really incredibly long) chapter right now, but I really do intend to update it at some point.
