So I have decided to start reading again.  I just ordered some books:

The Gift by Cecelia Ahern
FlashFoward by Robert J. Sawyer
The Host by Stephanie Meyer
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Anyone read any of them?  Opinions?  Good or bad, I don't mind :)

I read The Shadow of the Wind a little while ago. It wasn't the best book I've ever read (only because it didn't really go with my taste), but one of my favourite quotes ever is from it and it was extremely beautifully written.

It's not really spoiler-y and I've had it up on my journal for ages, so:

Few things leave a deeper mark on a reader than the first book that finds its way into his heart. Those first images, the echo of words we think we have left behind, accompany us throughout our lives and sculpt a palace in our memory to which, sooner or later—no matter how many books we read, how many worlds we discover, or how much we learn or forget—we will return.

I've been meaning to read the tie in, but my to read list is too long.

I haven't read The Host, but I personally don't think Stephanie Meyer is a very good writer. The Twilight Saga's storyline is interesting, but I find the books such a hard read because I don't find her writing style compelling. So, I figure in the end it might be an interesting to read through once, but probably isn't something you'll reread. If you want a suggestion for a good set of fantasy books, I'd check out an author named Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. They're short, but I've always enjoyed her stuff. Her most recent series Keishra, was very good.
