Sports Night & Smallville??

What is it about Sports Night and Smallville as fandoms which draw the same people in?  I've been searching for Sports Night fic (as I'm currently working my way through the DVDs on my bran new multi-regional dvd player *hugs it*) most is on authors personal websites, so when i go to look to see what else they've written there is inevitably Smallville fic...

But why??

I would have thought it more likely to be Due South, where the two main characters are male and best friends and the entire show is basically about them.  But I suppose thats kind of how Smallville started (if you ignore Lana etc.)??

Also, what i clearly need now is a Sports Night icon....

I've never watched Sports Night in my life. Any good? What's it about anyhow?

Also, yes, the whole point of Smallville was to ignore Lana as long as possible. Killing her off is fun too *g*

...I like the due South icon. You can't go wrong with Fraser. And it only gets better when you add Rays :D

It brilliant! Did you ever see Studio 60? Its made by the same people/guy (Aaron Sorkin?) also made West Wing. Sports Night is basically behind the scenes of the making of a sports show, which doesnt sound interesting but its like the banter and the fast pace, and you dont really have to know anything about sports to watch it :) (i think they're all on youtube somewhere, i remember finding them once)

I didnt even know until I thought what the heck I'll try these DVDs in my new tv and it worked! :)
I'm now thinking about shopping for all those region 1 dvds i wanted before but couldnt get... :)

Oh noes! Now I want new Due South icons too! :(

Not really. My shows tended to be on the Beeb or Five. So, Prison Break and the tackier end of the sci-fi scale. Not that Sanctuary doesn't have its good points... ;P
(YouTube's awesome for watching clips. But it drives you insane when you can't find more *pouts*)

Lucky thing. My solution is to move to America. And take my dvd player with me :)

But with which Ray? Or are you greedy and want both?

I only ever caught it when abc1 was on freeview, it was on at like midday on sundays or something lol. But I loved it even when i hadnt seen it for like two years I came across fic and fell in love with it all over and bought the dvds. Studio 60 was on ch4, was pretty good, had matthew perry in it. I never watched west wing tho.

I watch a bit of itv too :) There's some new programme on on saturdays Demons i think that i watched saturday, was ok ish, dodgy american accent by english bloke, kinda like sanctuary but the other way round :) and they seem to hunt abnormals and call them freaks, does this say something about brits vs americans??

Lol, thats a bit of an extreme move for me, no money and still at uni lol.

RayK!!! I could never see RayV/Fraser, dunno why, in retrospect i can, but when i first saw the first to series it was when they originally aired when i was like ten or something, maybe younger, so wasnt really looking for it! in retrospect yeah, but they've been solidified as brother/best friend relationship in my head and i cant seem to change it...

Also, yay, i found SN icons and some due south too :)

I missed Demons, but it looked...amusing at least.
The really odd thing about Sactuary? All the people with those dodgy English accents? Were born in England. Makes your head explode when you come to watch SG1 again ;P
What about Torchwood. There you've got the Welsh hunting down aliens. Which ones are the freaks again?

Yays! RayK for me too! I never saw it when I was younger, and the first ever ep I caught was the one with the dead guy in the wall. I think you end up imprinting on your first Ray :) Why would you want to change it, when poor RayK gets left out. FK's practically canon *rides off into the sun with partner. sniggles*

It was a bit amusing, kinda lame in places... but vaguely entertaining, and fills the gap Merlin left so...
Yeah I know! Shouldnt they be better?? I've kinda got used to Amanda Tapping's now, or its possible she got better as the series went on, i dont really know.

Lol, my friend goes to uni in Wales, we make to many jokes at the Welsh, its mean, i kinda like the accent anyway :)

When I started watching Merlin it was filling in the gap that Primeval left *g*

I'm not sure. After a while I just ignored it. Peter Wingfield though... *drowns in drool* Yes, I am that pathetic ;P What can I say, Highlander got to me.

My best friend is Welsh. And scary. Properly scary. If I made fun of Welsh people, or mispronounced a place name, she would hunt me down and make me pay. Possibly in blood *looks around to check she isn't here*

Stanley Smith. He should appear in more fic. He was *important* in that ep.
Wicked confusing though, as your first. They kept talking about 'Ray' and I thought he *was* Ray. No clue what was happening :)
Unfortunately, Torchwood has forever raised the bar of canon manlove. Now they have to try even harder to be half as gay ;)

I never watched primeval, i was usually at work when it was on, and it had that girl from sclub7 in it? dont think i would have been able to take her seriously... even tho i did kinda want to watch it when first heard about it.

I've never seen Higlander!! Whats it about??

Welsh placenames are impossible to pronounce right... the only one i can handle is aberyswyth (sp??!) because the only ppl i no there are students so ther abreviate it to aber :)

OMG forgot about Stanley Smith! He was great! They should have made him recurring, I used to like it when they did that in the first two series with the neighbours and stuff :)

I only fell into Torchwood second season ... do you think thats why they made Merlin that way? Lol, they were like dude these are the same people who watch Torchwood, we have to give em something *g*

It had Dinosaurs! And a geek that slashed nicely with everyone. In fact, he had such chemistry with the other 2 male leads you normally have to write them in a threesome so you don't feel like you're leaving anyone out :)
She's easily ignorable. Most girls are.

Didn't you ever see any of the films? They made a tv series in the 90's (the decade of tv heaven) that fit in with the films. Immortals (capital 'I') go around the earth, challenging other Immortals to sword fights. Winner cuts off the losers head, they die and winner gets their power.

They always do repeats of Primeval on ITV4 or something. Or eventually it'll cost next to nothing to buy *shrugs*

I actually got into Highlander through the fic *g* All my fandoms kept being crossed over with it, and I got kinda caught up in them. Then I started reading Highlander fics...and then I finailly saw an episode. And fell totally in love. It's so awesomely naff- it even has a *Queen* theme song :)

Honest interest? Because I can point you the way of a fic that (despite being AU and the 2nd in a series) is pretty much the perfect introduction to Highlander.
Or I could leave you alone to discover the fandom as you like. I'm pushy somtimes :)

Unfortunately the earliest ep I've found is S3...Why did I try and convert someone to a show *I* can barely get hold of? *cries*
