Merlin canon question

One thousand spontaneous words of Merlin fic before bedtime written!!!

So canon question - is Morganna younger than Arthur?  So basically, did Uther sleep with Morganna's mother after Igraine died, or whilst Igraine was still alive? 

On the topic of Igraine is it spelt with an I or a Y (Ygraine)?  Or is it one of those things thats open to intepretation?

I think it's mostly assumed that Morgana is older than Arthur. It makes the most sense, really, because after Ygraine (with the Y; that's how it's officially spelled for Merlin) died then he would probably have been too grief stricken to bother.

So then Uther would have cheated on Ygraine? See I always assumed Morgana was older, but then doesn't Uther explain her conception by the fact that he was comforting Morgana's mother why her husband was away at war or something? So where was Ygraine when this was happening? I think I'm going to have to go back and rewatch...

Yep, he would have cheated, most likely while trying to conceive Arthur with Ygraine. In my head, Uther cheated with Vivienne because he was depressed about being unable to conceive with Ygraine, and then Morgana's conception was the last straw that pushed Uther to using magic for Arthur.

It was never explained in detail, though, so it's entirely possible tptb will change it, the way they like to do.

They credit her as Ygraine but I don't think it matters particularly. As for ages, I've no idea, sorry!

I think its supposed to be a Y... That's how its spelled in the "A Dream of Eagles" series and I know he did a lot of research when writing those books.

I don't know how the show has it spelled though, because it could be one of those things up for interpretation. *shrugs*

I wasn't sure because I've seen fic with it spelt both ways, I think the consensus is y though :)
